I don't know if I should express my appreciation for all your efforts in making
the WGN into what it is today or blame you for making a geneaholic out of me.
I fear I in turn have created another, a cousin in Irving TX that we will hear
from time to time.
I too have posted obits and occasional FYIs to these pages and hope to do more.
The link to the parentage of Thomas 1734 is coming together after the results of
the DNA testing. I am still gleaning documentation to substantiate everything,
and yes it looks like all the lines that originated in VA. are related to some
degree, be it through the three bruthers or the elusive William, your choice.
Anyone know who this Bart Womack is?
Murder in the 101st Airborne
by Daniel Pipes
New York Post
March 25, 2003
"How did the enemy get into our camp?"
That's what Bart Womack, a command sergeant major of the elite 101st Airborne
Division, asked himself as a grenade rolled past him after 1 a.m. on Sunday at
an American camp in Kuwait. The attacker worked methodically, destroying an
electricity generator, throwing grenades into Womack's tent and the two other
command tents, then shooting tents. One soldier died and 15 sustained
injuries. The enemy in this case appears to be not what one might expect - an
Iraqi soldier or a Kuwaiti Islamist. The only suspect in custody is Hasan Karim
Akbar, 31, a sergeant in the 101st Airborne Division.
Samuel C. Wommock, is listed in Wakulla Co. Fl on the 1900 Census with his
wfie.
Also listed is a William, I think they may be brothers, but not sure.
Samuel wan born 1878-1879 and William was born 1875, both born in Fl
SAmuel's Father, F. H. was on the 1880 Franklin County Census wige wife Jane.
The record says: F, H. Womoc age 48 born in Ga.
Wife Jame age 35 born in Fl.
Children listed is : Laura age 10, josit age 8, Amanda age 6 Samuel age 1.
Jane says she had 9 children but only 5 living, on the 1880 Census of Franklin
Co. Fl. She is living with her daughter Amanda & Clyde Sarvis. She is listed
as Widow. Was also spelled Wormick.
William Wommack maried Florida D. Linzy, children were, Tressie Lee, Clarence
S,Alice.
I would like to know what the F. H. stood for.
Need your help please.
If any one else is working on this please contact me Elaine32358@aol.com
Or Dorinda atdorindabain2@yahoo.com Thanks for any and all help on this.
Francis Womack sp. Calester Jane Chason, had Samuel C. Wommack, I'm not sure when the two mm's started in this family, Benjamin Womack sp. Nancy Jones were Francis' parents. In the census Josit is Josephine.
Hello everyone. I have a question about one of my ancestors Louisa/Louvisa
Rice Womack. I have been to ancestry.com, and to genealogy.com, and it seems
that some of the gedcoms there have her listed as being born in about 10
different years, and that part of the gedcoms have her being born in Halifax Co.
VA. and the other parts have her listed as being born in Ireland. Does anyone
have a solid estimation as to the probable year of her birth, and her
birthplace? It has been giving me a headache for the past month! :-) I am doing
a private family history for my family, and this is as far back as I have
gotten. Anything that can point me in the right direction would be greatly
appreciated!
Thanks, and good luck in your searches.

I am searching for any one that is related to a family of Womacks that was
living in and around Irving & Dallas TX , during the 20's- 40's.... This
family had 36 children .. I believe there were 2 sets of triplets 3 sets of
twins, and the rest were single births...... There were several wright ups in
the Dallas Morning newspaper in the 30's... Which I have copies of..... This
family waas cousins to my grandfather James Smalley ..Bbut I dont know just
where they connect to...... If any one knows this family, I would love to talk
to you and find out more about them.... They really fasinate me..

I think Louvisa is in my line too, but some of the information I have is
confusing and being new to genealogy, I have not verified all the information I
have obtained.
My gg-grandmother was Rhoda Jane Womack and her parents were William Riley
Womack and Lucretia Taylor Womack.
Rhoda Jane's Brother was John (Jack) Womack
Rhoda Jane's Husband was Eddie Lee Stevens
Eddie Lee had a half-brother, Adolphus Alexander Stevens.
Adolphus Alexander Stevens married Laura Womack the daughter of John (Jack)
Womack.
It all gets kinda fuzzy after awhile, These are facts from an oral history I
have from my great-grandmother.
After that I have only information that I have gathered from various sources
which I have not been able to verify.
There are a LOT of William R Womack's listed out there, but I have found several
that say that the parents of William Riley Woimack b 1826 TN are Levi Berry b
1796 NC and Martha Beene (or Bean) b 1803 Al
Levi Berry's parents are listed as William b 1753 Va and Lucinda (Lucy) b 1761
NC
William's (b 1753) parental information I do not have
Lucinda's(b 1761) parents are listed as Thomas b 1743 va and Louvisa Rice ( many
different dates and places of birth)
If you have information on the previous post will you please share with me too?
Thanks,
Dlynn

Hello , I'm seeking information on Lucinda Womack 1801 - 1903 ( this is whats on her tombstone) . I was told her last name was Wayman for yesrs just found out that was wrong and it's Womack , But I found her under 2 diff. husbands names Clayborne C.Pigg and also John (Jack) Pigg !! They had 8 children , Lucinda was born in N.C. married Tn. (I think ), died in Sullivan Co Indiana ! She was also married to Jesse Powell for a short time and buried near his son George Perry Powell . Would any one know of this Womack ?I have pictures of her tomestone that I would share ! Thank you Diane
I believe the letter I thought was (f) in the name Chrisf? is probably a (p)
which would make the name Chrisp? I am still not certain. It could be Chriss.

Hi, I'm trying to find the parents of my great grandmother, Olive Womack. She
was born 10/21/1882 in either Caswell County, NC or Danville, VA, and she moved
to Bainbridge, Decatur County, GA at some point to marry Charles L. Harrell, Jr.
She had an older sister named Susan, and evidently their parents died young, and
Susan and her husband, John Lewis helped raise Olive.
Anyway, if you have any information on this line of Womacks, I would really
appreciate a tip!
Gail, Olive's parents were Martin Van Buren Womack sp Jane Elizabeth Stone. I would be glad to share information with you on this line, get in touch.
Diane, Claiborne C., was her son, John Pigg was Lucinda's husband. Lucinda was the daughter of Abner Womack and Martha Drucilla Byers. Get in touch.
Roger has asked that I repost some on my, THOMAS and LOUVISA WOMACK line.
Recent DNA test that I participated in did prove that at least the main gist of
REV CHRISTENBERRY LEE's memiors were well founded. Two Blanton descendants and I
had a perfect 26/26 Y chrosome match, which can only be passed from father to
son. The MRCA ( most recent common ancestor) led to ABRAHAM WOMACK Sr, then back
to ABRAHAM who was the father of THOMAS Sr 1762. and MARY FARLEY WOMACK, Their
children were; JUDITH b. abt. 1706; ABRAHAM Sr. b. abt. 1708, SARAH b. abt.
1713; ELIZABETH b. abt. 1714; MARY C. b.abt.1716; WILLIAM b. abt. 1718; ISHAM b.
abt. 1720; MARTHA b. abt. 1723; FRANCIS b. abt. 1725 and THOMAS Jr b. abt. 1728.
ABRAHAM 1708 Is the apparent father of both THOMAS WOMACK 1743 and ARCHIE/ARCHEE
BLANTON whos mother was ANN NANCY BLANTON possibly the widow of THOMAS BLANTON.
Abraham and Ann were not married. Abraham had married the first time to an
Elizabeth ? abt. 1726 and had children with her. In between his first and second
wife, an Elizabeth ? also, he had an affair with Ann Blanton to which Thomas and
Archie were born. Abraham and Ann were cited in court as living in adultry
(early VA records) the court ordered the church to bind out the children.
Abraham served time in in jail for this as proven by records of payment to a
jailer for his keep. Abraham and 1 st wife had children, ABRAHAM Jr. b.
11726 and ELIZABETH b. 1740. Abraham married his 2nd wife Elizabeth ? abt. 1752
and had children MARY 1752 and ABNER Jan. 07, 1764.
Note; There is some conterversy about who the wife was of Abraham f/o Thomas Sr
1762. Some believe it was Sarah Sunnerscales and some think it was Sarah
Worsham. More work needed here. JFW

Looking for information on a John M Womack, born abt 1859 in Texas. He
appears in the 1860 Hill County Texas Census with his parents, Thaddeus (also
sometimes listed as Thomas) and Luvina(sp?) Womack and is listed as one year
old.
Perhaps someone has an extra John M Womack hidden somewhere, he would show his
father born in Mississippi and his mother in Illinois.
Thanks so much

Someone left a post about the trail of tears and now it is gone. Did it get
removed because there is no evidence or it was false information?
I wanted to ask the person where they heard this information.

Re: your query about "the trail of tears".
Just above your post there are three shortcuts you can click which take you to
WGN Homepage, Message Archives, or Post a message. If you will click on the WGN
Homepage and then go to near the bottom right of the homepage there is a Google
search engine which will search just the WGN or the entire web. I used just
"trail" as a search term and of the two pages of hits the following
concerned the "trail of tears":

Hi I'm looking for ancestors of Edmond Lockett Womack -b: 10 May 1834, Prince
Edward Co., Buffalo District, VA. Married Sallie Elliot b: 1837 on 6 May 1857
& had 7 children. His father was William A. Womack born ??, married Mary c.
Lockett b: 1814, on 11 May 1833.
I found a William A. Womack b: 1807 Prince Edward Co. son of Archer Womack, but
nothing to connect him to Edmond, if he is his Father.
If anyone can help me connect the "dots", it would be greatly
appreciated.
Thank You.

Nancy Womack, daughter of John Wesley & Elizabeth Moss Hogan Womack?
According to family records, the 3rd wife of my GG Grandfather, William C.
BLAKELY, was named Nancy WOMACK. Her parent's names were said to be Wisly and
Elizabeth WOMACK. On the 1850 Hardin Co, IL census, Nancy, then 18, was shown
with her husband, William "BLACHLY". A checkmark was made in the
column "married in year".
In searching the 1850 Census for Nancy's parents, I found Wisly and Elizabeth in
Hardin Co., IL:
pages 27b-28, Enum. 6 Sep 1850
#387,#387
Wisly Womack, 44, M, Farmer, 1000, NC
Elizabeth M. Womack, 38, F, IL
Abram Womack, 12, M, IL
John W. Womack, 8, M, IL
Sarah Ann(a?) Womack, 6, F, IL
William A. Womack, 8, M,IL
Albert Womack, 4, M, IL
Austin B. Womack, 2, M, IL
Mary E. Womack, 2, F, IL
This sounds very much like the family of John Wesley WOMACK and his wife,
Elizabeth Moss HOGAN who were married May 12, 1831. The oldest child I can find
listed for them anywhere is Isaac Hogan WOMACK, b: December 25, 1834. Does
anyone know if they had a daughter Nancy, b. abt. 1832, or was Isaac their
oldest child?
Any thoughts anyone would have about this would be very much appreciated!
Thank you,
Elizabeth Ordway
Ordmins@aol.com
Elizabeth, that 1850 census is John Wesley Womack & Elizabeth Moss Hogan,
I just don't know about Nancy.
The 1840 Galatin Co., IL., Census list:
John Womac 2 males (age 0-5), 1 male (30-50), 1 female (20-30)
No daughter shown here, but it also is missing a son that should have shown up
on this 1840 census also, Isaac Hogan Womack was born in 1834.
It is possible this 1840 Census is another family?
Roger, Very much appreciate you finding the 1840 Census--am so glad you thought
to check that! I should have tried to find that earlier, but didn't. It must be
the same family. Found the census in Ancestry.com and looked at the original
which has gives the middle initial "W.". The total number of people
given in the household was 4, which matches what you sent. Discouraging, but
since you said that Isaac was missing, that gives a little hope that maybe they
did have a daughter, Nancy, and for some reason she was omitted too.
Thanks so much for your help!

Hello.
My GGGrandmother was born America Ann Garrison. Her parents were G.A.V. Gray
(family always said the G.A. was for George Anna have no idea what the V is for)
and Andrew Garrison.
In a Wilson Co. TN. Census record I found them listed with a J.R. Womack in
thier household and he was listed as brother-in-law. I have found in
www.familysearch.org where J.R. Womack had a sister America Ann Womack. I am
assuming this maybe who my GGGrandmother was named after. I was wondering if
anyone knows how J.R. could have been a brother-in-law to G.A.V.Gray or Andrew
Garrison?
Would appreciate any help.

Here is a copy of the 1880 Wilson County TN Census Record I was talking about
in the post I just posted. I found this on this site. The G. A. is for George
Anna, which was born a Gray. She is my GGGrandmother. I am trying to find out
how the J. R. Womack listed here was a BroL. Any help would be Greatly
Appreciated.

hi I'm trying to get information about my family and how to start my own family tree.....my grandfather was Abe Womack and I believe orginated from Virginia
Hi: Elizabeth: I have a copy of Oscar Womack's "The Descendants of Thomas & Louvisa Rice Womack" published in 1970. He lists the children of John Wesley and Elizabeth Moss Hogan Womack but no Nancy Womack is included in this list. The book does show: a Nancy Womack b.1843 and d.1918 as a daughter of Abraham Womack and Elizabeth Schumaker Womack. This Nancy Womack reporedly married William Beard. In the list of Womack Researchers, Denise Kneifel (DeniseK322@aol.com) is a descendant of Abraham & Elizabeth Schumaker Womack. Perhaps she may be of some help in your search. Bob
Bonnie,
You might want to buy a computer program like Family TreeMaker. I use it and it
helps keep things straight. I also like that it has a scrapbook. Start with one
person, like yourself and start working our way backwards. I started with my
daughter, since the tree is for her. I am not as advanced with tree and root
searching as most here, so someone else may be of more help; but that is how I
got started..GOOD LUCK!!!

In "The Bulletin", a publication of Watauga Association
Genealogists, Upper East Tennessee, Volume 20, No. 1, it contains the
Revolutionary War record of Johnson Wamuck. The association indicates this
bulletin is sold out. I have requested in several places for someone with a copy
of the bulletin to contact me to learn more about this war record, including
emailing an officer of the association. This war record might shed some light on
the "other" Jacob Womack who signed the Watauga Petition. I have
copies of Johnson Womack's pension apps., one made 12 Dec 1832 (turned down) and
the other #32577, dated 30th Oct 1837, (pension granted), both applied for in
Madison Co., AR. One app. states he fought on the Watauga River. Census records
indicate he was in Grainger Co., TN in 1797. Any other suggestions in gaining
access to the app. in Washington Co., TN?

Bob, Thanks so much for the information from "The Descendants of Thomas & Louvisa Rice Womack". Really appreciate the help! Elizabeth
Connie,
Regarding the Womack vital records page, yes it was taken down some time ago.
The main reason at the time was because people were posting vital information
for themselves or people that were still living. Given the rampant fraud and
identity theft going on via the internet, we thought it a good idea to remove
the page so people could no longer post. With someone's name and birthdate, it
would be that much easier to mess them up. However, I believe that I kept a copy
of those pages. I'll take a look, sort it out, and re-post the non-living
information for others to find on the web site.
I have to say that the response from people posting information they had or
found was great. If we do it again, we'll have to have some kind of moderation
to prevent information about possibly living individuals from getting posted.

Hi! This is really cool to find so much information about Womacks on one Website. I am the ggranddaughter of Britt Womack and Elisabeth Niblett. They had these children that I know of: Troy Womack, Harvey Womack, Ollie Womack, Sally Womack and Laura Womack who was my grandmother. I believe Britt was married and had children before my great grandmother. I am looking for any and all information about this line, both before and after. I would particularly like to find out where Britt is buried. My father believes it is around Houston Lake, GA. He would like to put a marker there before he goes. I believe my grandmother Laura had some step sibiling in Atlanta. Are any of their descendants reading this? Please contact me@jhudspeth@peoplepc.com Lynn
Does anyone know how the village in Norfolk called Horsford came to get its name? Or where does the name Horsford come from. Thank you.

I am looking for the family of Eula Mae Womack. She was born 25 March 1923 and died 19 December 1979. I think she had 3 sons and 3 daughters. Some of her married names were: Bison, Corley and Gautier. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have more information on this Joe David Womack's, ancestors. Thanks for the post Cherie, This is one line I have been looking for. I have his parents as Lester Marlan Womack and Mary Virginia Goodman. That's all I have.
We have found 6 Womack (Wommack, etc) headstones in Redmen Cemetery in
DeQueen, Sevier co, AR. We cannot find anything on these people and have no idea
where they connect. It is hard to believe they are buried right there in DeQueen
and not related to us. Do any of you know any of these? We have photos of the
headstones, in case anyone needs.

Johnny, I don't have a clue when this family started using two mm's in their surname, I have them with one in my database. This was John Abner Womack, sp Adelia, 1900 census has Delia (spelling is Womack). Son Waverly is translated as Waemy in Sam's 1900 Arkansas census, I've not seen the original. I have John Abner Womack as the son of James William Womack, b 1833, sp Martha Frances Sharp. The 1920 census spelling is Wommack, Ernest still in the home. I could not find them in the 1910 census. Thank you for the post Johnny, I did not have some of the death dates and places of burial.
