Thanks to Family Group Sheets emailed to me by Ann McDonald, I have much needed information on my JACOB WOMACK. Now I need to document that GREEN WOMACK was indeed my Jacob's father. I think so but would like to be able to prove it.

Mark this is a very good and straight forward page. I have no idea I can get this information but, here goes. I have found after a long search Elizabeth Womack who married Charles Cawthon and moved from Virginia to NC. I believe they lived in two places in NC the last one being Tryon County. I would like to be able to determine, if possible, where they were married----VA or NC? Who his parents were (Charles Cawthon)? Did they leave wills in NC? Can anyone help? Does anyone have the Womack-Cawthon connection. I believe they may have lived in Rutherfordton Co. or had some connection to that county. Thanks Margaret

This was sent to me by Edward R. Harrell and regards some Womack information to be found for Alabama. Maybe it can help someone out there: In the library at the University of NC at Chapel Hill they have manuscripts of many people. One such is by Marcus J. Wright. His file number is 1044. His second wife was Pauline Womack, daughter of John W. and Ann M Beville (or Bevill). These Womacks were in Butler and Greene Counties, Alabama. Contact UNC at www.unc.edu. Then go to the libraries. From there you will see how to locate the file on Marcus J. Wright. It lists all of his manuscript papers. Marcus Wright was born in McNairy County, Tenn., where I am located. He was a confederate general. He helped compile the 130 books on "The Official Records of The War of The Rebellion". Most libraries have these books.

I am looking for more information on my ancestor, Burell Womack, He married Ava Cook in 1840 in Gibson Co, TN. I have no idea where he was before then. One census said he was born in TN, another said NC. He moved to Dallas Co, AR for the 1850 census, then Yell Co, AR for the 1860 census. He died in Yell Co in the 1860s, but his chidren remained there into the 1900s. He may have had a brother named Sampson Womack. Any help appreciated.

Great site! Our Lucinda WOMACK was born 13 May 1821. We think her parents were Charles and Capander, but have had no luck tracing them. Census citations for a Charles in 1850 in Marion Co. and 1860 in Schley Co. Any ideas? Nancy Schoonmaker

For those of you interested in that Marcus Wright collection at UNC-Chapel Hill, this might be of some use. Pauline Womack, his wife, was the daughter of John Warburton Womack. John was the 1/2 brother of my ancestor Kinchen. As far as I know, among the collection of letters there are some from Marcus to one of his wife's Womack cousins, I think the son of Jacob Lewis Womack. Anyway, to make a long story short, as far as I know, of the 4 children of John Warburton Womack, Pauline was the only one to have children. Her sister died young, and both her brothers died during or soon after the Civil War.

In my quest to create interesting content regarding Womack genealogy, I am looking into doing a tribute article about the Womack Family Association of the late 50's. All I have are the Womack Genealogy newsletters. If there is anyone out there that can contribute some first hand information or stories, please email me. Why did it disband after 1960? Were you or a relative a member of the Association? Thanks, Mark.
